Chuck Lambert

Chuck Lambert

Chuck's musical education started long before he picked up a guitar. At age eight, he studied oboe and piano. Four years later his godfather exposed him to the musical diversity of Caribbean culture and encouraged him to play guitar. While in high school, he played bass and guitar in small R&B combos, rubbing elbows and jamming with future members of Parliament Funkadelic. While attending Lafayette College in the early 70's, he was a member of the Tim McCabe Blues Gang. The band's primary function was that of a backup band for touring blues legends on the East Coast college circuit. It was then that he was able to play for legends John Lee Hooker, J.B. Hutto and Screamin' Jay Hawkins. He also gained valuable exposure playing college parties and small clubs in the Delaware River Valley. Most recently, Chuck has been playing guitar and singing his blues for crowds up and down the Jersey Shore, Philadelphia New York City and metropolitan New York areas while always returning to play venues in his home town of Red Bank, NJ. As a member of the Panama Chapel Band, The Cal Vetrane Blues Band, and a guest artist with RB 3, Heavy Soul, Herd of Blues, Al Holmes and The Tribe, Poppa John and The Jam Band he has lent his vocal talents and guitar to many a fantastic night.

Chuck has led the band as they opened for popular artists such as Little Feat and Kenny Wayne Shepard. The band has performed in prestigious musical venues like NJPAC, The Count Basie Theatre and SOPAC. They have performed at Le Festiblues International de Montreal; The Riverhead Blues Festival in Riverhead L.I.; The Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival at Six Flags Great Adventure, Freehold NJ; The Westfield Jazz & Blues Festival in Westfield NJ; The Red Bank Jazz & Blues Festival, Riverfest and The Jazz in the Park Series in Red Bank NJ; The Clearwater Festival at Gateway National Park at Sandy Hook NJ and Asbury Park NJ; The Blues by The Beach Concert Series in Long Branch NJ and represented The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation in 2007 and 2013 at The International Blues Competition held in Memphis Tenn.

The Chuck Lambert Band represents a commitment to expanding the range and scope of the Blues. It incorporates the vitality and innovation of modern electric blues with the soul and depth of its traditional forms. Each member of the band is an exceptional talent but their unity puts them on a whole different level. The rhythm section of James Keenan on bass guitar and Jay “Boxcar” Battle on drums radiates pulse and energy. Tony Tota on piano and Eric Salkin on Sax epitomize style and class with dynamic improvisation. Chuck completes the musical fellowship with his distinguished vocals and superb guitar playing. The result of their synergy is a unique and original narration of the power of the Blues and its enduring legacy.

Mona's Hot Four

Monas Hot Four

Originally from Boston, MA and currently living in New York City, Dennis Lichtman is a 35-year-old multi-instrumentalist (clarinet, violin, mandolin) who is deeply entrenched in early- to mid-1900’s American music, from traditional jazz and swing to bluegrass and western swing. His elegant voice carries through on all three instruments, lending a thread that weaves together the various genres he navigates.

Since 2007, Dennis has been the clarinetist and bandleader of the famed Tuesday night traditional-jazz jam session at Mona's in downtown New York, which was recently profiled in the New York Times, and has been described by the Wall Street Journal as "ground zero for an emerging late-night scene of young swing and traditional jazz players." December 2012 saw the release of Tuesdays At Mona’s, a 19-minute documentary about the Mona’s session produced by Hi-Tide Films, accompanied by a live CD of Mona’s Hot Four with 19 guest musicians.

Dennis switches deftly between fiddle, clarinet, and mandolin while leading his sextet, The Brain Cloud, through a broad array of American music including original compositions and new arrangements of old songs. The band released their second album, Outside Looking In, on CD and vinyl LP record in spring 2013. The Brain Cloud has held a Monday night residency at famed Brooklyn venue, Barbés, since 2011.

As an educator, Dennis is on the faculty of the Welbourne Traditional Jazz Music Camp in Middleburg, VA. With Brazilian-American band Nation Beat, he has given workshops in New York City public schools through the Midori Foundation, and college-level master classes. He has also been involved with Lincoln Center’s Meet The Artist Series, giving bluegrass workshops to inner-city school groups. Lichtman maintains a small studio of private students, ages 9 through 75.

Sarah Partridge

Sarah Partridge

For the past 20 years, Sarah has been performing jazz around the country. From New York’s famed Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel to the Catalina Bar and Grill and Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. She has enjoyed success at Washington D.C’s Blues Alley, Denver’s Dazzle Jazz Club, and Scullers, in Boston.

Sarah has four internationally released CDs that have received critical acclaim. “I’ll Be Easy To Find” on USA Records, “Blame It On My Youth”, “You Are There. Songs For My Father” on Germany’s Nagel Heyer Records and “Perspective”, released by her own Peartree Productions. Her latest recording of original compositions, “I Never Thought I’d Be Here” will be released by Origin Records in March 2015.

After graduating from Northwestern University as a theatre major, Sarah remained in Chicago performing on stage, in commercials and film. Her first role out of college was opposite Tom Cruise in “Risky Business” playing Kessler, the babysitter. She moved to Los Angeles where she worked for 10 years in television and film. All the while, her love for jazz was tugging her to a different stage.

She found herself at the Improv one evening, and on a dare, sang a karaoke version of “Summertime”. A member of the audience approached her and said he was a booker who specialized in jazz. From that day forward, Sarah has been delighting audiences with her voice. She continues to perform largely in the Northeast where she lives with her family. She has performed concerts at several performing arts centers, as well as the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, where she sang in a tribute to the late Les Paul. When not performing, Sarah teaches voice and is a Music Performance Consultant.

Sean Jones Quartet

Sean Jones Quartet

Music and spirituality have always been fully intertwined in the artistic vision of trumpeter, composer, educator and activist Sean Jones. Singing and performing as a child with the church choir in his hometown of Warren, Ohio, Sean switched from the drums to the trumpet upon his first exposure to Miles Davis at the age of 10. Twenty-five years later, he still cites Miles’ overall artistic vision and purity of sound as his greatest personal influence. After receiving his Master’s Degree from Rutgers University, Sean had a 6-month stint with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. This marked the beginning of a relationship with Wynton Marsalis, whose personal work ethic and ability to break barriers had already made a significant impact on the emerging artist. Wynton offered Sean a permanent position as lead trumpeter and Jones remained there until 2010.

A highly respected and in-demand musician even while at Rutgers, Sean was prominently featured with a number of artists, recording and/or performing with many major figures, including Illinois Jacquet, Jimmy Heath, Frank Foster, Nancy Wilson, Dianne Reeves, Gerald Wilson and Marcus Miller. The relationship with Miller led to another highly impacting experience when Sean was selected by Miller, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter for their Tribute to Miles tour in 2011.

Heavily involved in education, Sean teaches at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, at the Oberlin (Ohio) Conservatory of Music, Chairs the Brass Department at Berklee College of Music in Boston and serves as Artistic Director of both the Pittsburgh and Cleveland Jazz Orchestras. Jones also regularly offers master classes and clinics all around the world.

Currently performing with pianist Orrin Evans, bassist Luques Curtis and drummer Obed Calvaire-- the quartet on Sean’s seventh CD, im.pro.vise = never before seen, which was recently released on Mack Avenue Records.

In the education field he is a renowned lecturer producing several instructional DVDs and books, most notably: "Self Portrait of A Jazz Artist"-"A Chromatic Approach to Jazz Melody and Harmony"-"Developing A Personal Saxophone Sound,” (multiple translations in other languages).
